My Journey:
I started out in the Oil & Gas industry before moving into Renewables in 2013 as a statutory inspection technician to get a ‘foot in the door’ travelling around the UK and Europe before securing a role at RWE in 2017 as an Offshore Technician / Control Room Operator. I then spent 5 years in that role before progressing into engineering and then onto my current position as of June 2023.
Working Environment:
My main workplace is at the Galloper O&M facility in Harwich where I support and manage the marine, logistics and control room aspects of the day-to-day running of the wind farm. View from the office is pretty good and the coffee isn’t so bad!
Duties:
Overall responsibility of managing the crew transfer vessels at site as well as third party contract vessels as / when they are operating at Galloper. In addition, the day-to-day management of the on-site Operational Control Room as well as overseeing the management of the facility and logistics. It’s a very diverse role with a lot of moving parts and everyday is different with a new challenge to overcome.
