My Journey:
My journey into the energy industry was sparked by an early awareness of the climate crisis and the critical need for change in how we source and use energy. This realisation steered my academic choices in studying Geology as an integrated masters at UCL, which fed my curiosity in earths processes and landscape. I then applied to the renewable graduate scheme at Equinor as I was keen on working in an industry that is shaping the future of what energy looks like. My advice would be to put yourself out there, this sector needs a wide range of talents and perspectives to drive change.
Working Environment:
I am currently based in London in our Paddington office, working mainly in the business development team but collaborating across the business for various tasks. I travel to Great Yarmouth often as the stakeholder engagement and asset management tasks I support tend to be based there and it is great to be in our operations and maintenance base. My responsibilities will change as my graduate programs progresses due to the options of trying different roles, which is what I find most exciting!
Duties:
Right now, I’m on a business development placement that’s really varied and interesting. My role splits into two main areas: the first part is all about early business development, where we’re looking at projects and strategy in the UK. The second part has me diving into Asset Management, helping out with our current assets. My day-to-day is a mix of these two, so it’s always changing and keeps things exciting. I also get involved in some stakeholder engagement work, adding another layer to what I do.
